So finally i got my hands on the 4th edition of Urban Decay’s Book of Shadows, i always wanted one but the latest is very interesting because they added a new technology to it, which i thought is a very clever idea since everyone is so tech freak nowadays. I was lucky enough to be an iPhone user which had a feature that made it easy to work on iPhone which i will explain and show you in a while.
Now the Book of Shadows IV has 16 eyeshadows (10 of them are new), a travel size Primer Potion, a travel size Supercurl Curling Mascara and a full size 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner.
In addition to the makeup, the palette has a USB cord, a mini speaker and a QR Code, and this is the fun part! There is a QR Code card that contains 5 different looks to create using this Book of Shadows IV. How QR Code work? Well for my iPhone all i had to is to to install a (Quick Response) Code Reader from the App Store (Which is free), and then open the application and scan the code showing in the card. As soon as it takes a good picture of the code it will automatically play a video creating this certain look. The USB cord is to connect the device with the mini Speaker to have a good high volume sound. There is a small slot/holder to place the device in there and watch the videos.
Regarding eyeshadow colors, they are of good quality, as expected from Urban Decay most of them are velvety and highly pigmented. I will have to say that there is no variety in colors, there are no pinks and oranges and bright colors, most of the colors are neutral and very wearable, and that’s why i loved this palette. My favorite one is LOST.
I havent used the mascara and the liner yet, so i will tell you what i think about them once i try them. So you can see the USB cord and the mini speaker (the purple box) placed on the top of the Primer Potion, the mascara and the liner.
