MAC Me Over Collection by MAC

MAC Me Over Collection is said to be the biggest collection by MAC that has 51 pieaces. There are alot of limited edition pieces but i can see some from the permanent line such as lipsticks, eyeshadows, brushes, foundations and concealers. The idea of MAC Me Over Collection that MAC held a contest last fall to submit pictues and videos of people using the phrase “MAC Me Over because…” and end it with “style, heart and soul.” The winners of this contest were the inspiration and the face of the collection. The contest was open for girls and guys 🙂

One of the pieces that you dont want to miss is the Dark Diversion fluidline, its a Limited Edition color and i got it from a previous collection called Stylishly Yours, its a beautiful brownish burgundy color, the color is very dark and subtle, suits anytime, anywhere.

The collection will be officially launched in MAC stores on Thursday, September 29.2011

Garnier Light: Tinted Eye Roll On

Garnier Light is an instant fairness tinted eye roll on that has Caffeine and Lemon esscence and works as an anti-dark circles care moisturizer and as a tinted concealer. They didnt call it a concealer but it doesnt cover much, its very light in texture and sheer, but it help cover up a little bit.True its a roll on but you dont need to keep on rolling because a good amount of product will come out from just a single stroke.

What i loved about this product is that i dont feel i am wearing make up after applying it, and its the kind of product i would wear during the day at home if i dont want to wear make up but still primed up. All i do is wear tinted moisturizer, the Gariner tinted concealer and a tinted lip moisturizer.

Gariner Light Tinted Eye Roll On t is in two shades (Light and Medium).

My Sleek Makeup Collection

After posting about the Sleek Makeup Nude Collection i thought of talking about my Sleek Makeup collection. The first time i was introduced to the Sleek Makeup i went and ordered 3 i-Divine palettes in Original, Storm and Sunset. Once i got the package i was kind of surprised to know that the palette’s size is pretty small! I never paid attention to its size when i was reviewing the collections online, but the sizes of each eyeshadow is pretty reasonable.

The i-Divine palette is a mineral based eyeshadow, each palette has 12 eyeshadows and a double ended sponge tip applicator,i never liked applying my eyeshadow using a sponge applicator so i prefer my brushes, the palette also has a mirror on its lid. The quality of the eyeshadow is good, i noticed alot of fallouts and the palette looks pretty messy after i use it. But i love the colors, there are alot of shimmery eyeshadows which are not my favorite but it is needed sometimes to create a festive look, or to be worn with muted blusher and lipstick. I noticed two colors are mostly repeated in some palettes which is the black and probably dark brown. I cannot tell for sure because some palettes do not have the eyeshadow names (Original, Sunset and Storm), i believe they started including the eyeshadow names in the newer or Limited Edition ones.

Original i-Divine Palette
This palette is all shimmery eyeshadows except for the first black on the top left. Most of the colors are very wearable and they’re highly pigmented. But i noticed that this palette is different from the others from the inside, the eyeshadows are inside these circles and there are gaps in between, like the plate itself is only the circles that hold the eyeshadows. It seems this was a bad idea and changed it to the regular straight plate. The name of the eyeshadows are not written on the palette.

Oiriginal Palette-Outside box

Storm i-Divine Palette
This palette is one of my favorites, there is no color i wouldnt use for an everyday look, no festive or flashy colors. There are only 3 matte colors and the rest are shimmery. I made a big mess when i used this palette several times, and honestly these eyeshadow can do a big mess from the first time (the shimmery colors only) :-s This palette doesnt include names too.

Sunset i-Divine Palette
This is a really beautiful palette and it doest look like a real sunset with all these reddish, orangy and coral colors. The only thing that i dont understand in this palette is the blue color, probably it resembles the sea! LOL i dont know. The 2nd color on the bottom rown from the left is a dupe for MAC Cranberry eyeshadow. All eyeshadows are shimmery except for the black which is matte.

Monaco i-Divine Palette
This eyeshadow palette is from the Limited Edition collection called Mediterranean Collection, the colors are vibrant and very colorful but i dont see any overly bright or unusable colors, they all look reasonably muted and wearable. This palette has 8 matte colors and the rest are shimmery. The names of the eyeshadows are written on the transparent protection sheet.

Oh So Special i-Divine Palette
This palette is very beautiful but unfortunately the colors dont look as beautiful as they are in real, they look a bit lighter, the pink shades are gorgeous especially the matte coralish one on the top and the lighter one below, this palette has alot of browns and i liked that they mixed them between matte and shimmers. It has 7 matte eyeshadows and 5 shimmers. The names of the eyeshadows are printed on the transparent protection sheet.

I also have The Primer Palette, it has 12 different basic shades, some of them are pretty useful, instead of buying a single MAC paint pot this palette is really good. I dont think i will ever buy a black or dark blue paint pot but this one has it all, i wont ever know when i will suddenly need such color, and i will be relieved to know its available with me.

The Primer Palette

The Primer Palette

My opinion about the eyeshadow palettes: well i love them, even though there are much better quality in the market but these are not to be missed. The palettes are so cute in size but they’re not cheap at all even if the product is not expensive. My all time advice if you think that the shade is too light for you and wont show as beautiful as it looks always apply a white base before, like NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk or anything similar.

Now its time to show you the other beautiful stuff by Sleek Makeup. Beside the eyeshadow palettes that Sleek Makeup are famous for are the truly pigmented blushers. I’m not a big fan of very pigmented blushers because i hate to just place the tip of the brush on top of the blush, i am a generous woman and i love to “sweep” my brush on the blusher!! But it doesnt work with these blushers at all, just dab the tip of the brush and this will be enough, do it as often as you want to build up the color if you want a darker shade. The packaging is very cute and small, but the blush takes almost the whole size from the inside because it doesnt contain a brush or anything, the whole area is only used for the blush. I hate these blushers by Chanel or Burberry and others brands too where they dont use the whole area for the blush, they tend to waste it on a little brush that we never use and the rest is just plain plastic! I like my brush to fit inside the blush and i can sweep it as much as i want.

This is GLO Face & Body Highlighter in Peach Shimmer, and it has 5 strips of highlighters and a brush that i dont understand how to use it, again i will say that i dont like such palettes brushes, they’re almost useless for me, i prefer to use my own brushes. I’ve expected more of this highlighter, the color is very frosty and it needs an extra blending to look good and natural, i prefer using each color individually instead of mixing then together.

Welcome to TheJulyBloom

Hello and welcome to my new website www.TheJulyBloom.com, I hope you like the design because i worked really hard and squeezed my brain within two days. I’m really excited about my own domain name, it feels more private and homey.

Why did i choose The July Bloom?
I love flowers, i love everything with flower patterns so i thought of including something to do with flower without using the exact work so i thought of “Bloom“. I am a July girl and i thought it would be nice to call my website “July Bloom“, and to be more specific about myself i included the “The“. So “The July Bloom” was born at that moment and i immediately purchased the name.

Why did i choose these colors?
Pink, blue, white and black? i really dont know but i always tend to pick up these colors together, i believe i like the combination altogether, even though my husband was against me using black in the design so i didnt include much (my initial background was black, so i had to change it), and he still thinks there is too much black LOL.

Why did i switch to WordPress?
Yes i was using Blogger before and i know how popular it is among bloggers and some users said its better than others, but the comment thing really annoyed me and alot informed me that they cannot comment. The commenting process was too long where we have to enter a verification code, an email, a password and so on. Comment area is supposed to be a communication link between me and the readers so here is much easier, very immediate and simple. You can try it now 😀 But i have enable the authorization mode, so i will have to approve the comment before it appears in the website.

If you are a first time reader, this is not a new start, i had http://honi2b.blogspot.com before and i’ve migrated all its content to the new one (explains the previous posts).

This is just an introduction post, i will be posting a beauty post later tonight, so stay tuned.

Sleek Makeup Nude collection

Sleek Makeup recently launched the Nude Collection that consist of a divine eyeshadow palette, a blush and a pout polish.
The divine palette is called Au Naturel and its is (as all divine palettes) has 12 eyeshadow and a 2 sided sponge brush. It has all the basic colors to create the nude/natural look. The palette’s size is fairly small comparing to MAC‘s palettes, i was a bit shocked when i first saw it because i didnt ever notice the original size on the website. But its very cute, and you can put it anywhere even inside your handbag, its pretty handy and doesnt take alot of space in my make up drawers.
The quality of the eyshadow isnt as good as MAC‘s, you should know that this palette costs $10.50, so you will get what you pay for, there is alot of fall outs, it is even obvious in the pictures and i havent used it yet, so imagine what its gonna look like after its been used (on my next post i will show you all my Sleek Makeup collections, and how much fall outs i have in one of the palettes). I noticed the fall outs comes more from the shimmery eyeshadow and not the mattes. So dont think of ever using the eyeshadow without an eyeshadow primer.

The second item is the blusher, its called Suede and its very pigmented, it kind of reminded me of Illamasqua blushers where you only have to use as minimum as possible, you dont have to sweep the brush, just dap its tip and this will be more than enough, and do it as often as you need if you needed to build up the color. The size is fairly reasonable, a little bit similar to NARS‘s and it looks pretty neat in the photo, no fall outs whatsoever. The blush costs $6.50.

The third item is the Pout Polish, called Bare Minimum and its is very similar to MAC‘s tinted moisturizers and also has an SPF15. This PP doesnt have any color, it works like a regular lip moisturizer, it helps condition chapped lips. It contains jojoba, avocado and sweet almond oil, and it smells really yummy, like a vanilla scent. The PP costs $6.50.
I’ve never purchased any PP from any previous collections, but i thought of trying this one because i first thought that it has a stronger color, like a gloss or so, but its not, its as nude as it can be.

TOPSHOP Makeup

Last year TOPSHOP decided to launch a makeup line that reflect their fashionable clothes, with reasonable prices (or as they say). I dont know when exactly we had the make up in our stores because i have been out of market for a very long time!! But i am trying to compensate in my shopping sprees now 😀
I visited the Dubai Mall store and i had no idea they had make up in there, i was shopping for clothes and i saw the make up counter. My first impression that it reminded me of Mrs. Selfridge make up (if you can remember the store at Fotouh Al Khair before it was closed), but when i used it, it is definitely way better in quality.
The packaging is very cute, most of it is white with black strips and dots. But it kind of dissapoint me for not having a wide color range, they werent showing everything i’ve seen at the website, and the security tags and plastics were covering some of the numbers and names of the shades which ended by me getting the wrong shade of bronzer. Even the sales lady didnt help me, actually she’s the one who insisted that the one i bought is the same shade i want. When i went back home and opened the package i was very dissapointed, the color was obviously darker than my shade. I couldnt go back and replace it..So i will probably give it to my sun tanned sister until i go back to store and get the shade i want.
Since they didnt have everything and i wasnt very much impressed with the available colors, i only picked up a bronzer and a matte lipstick called Desert. After using it i have to say that it is one of my favorites, i absolutely loved it, especially when i wear a MAC Kumquat Lipglass on top. The color is described as nude but its not at all, it has a lovely peachy tone into it, it even looks a bit orange in the photos (the lipstick looks very dark in the photos).

Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Brushes

Sigma Beauty introduced the three synthetic kabuki brushes months ago and i had to buy them after reading alot of good reviews on how amazing they are in applying foundations.
I couldnt use them all at once and it took me so long to build my judgement because i had a different use for one of the brushes.
The first brush i used is the F82-Round Top Kabuki. The brush is described as :“The F82 Round Top Kabuki brush simplifies precise makeup application under the eyes and around the nose. This brush is also perfect for achieving flawless coverage using liquid and powder products. Features synthetic Sigmax HD fibers.”
Sigma F82-Round Top Kabuki brush

I didnt change my way in applying foundations “by the Beauty Blender”, but to achieve a really nice and flawless look i apply the powder foundation on top using this brush. Since the brush is so dense it picks alot of product and packs alot, it doesnt look too powdery and it depends on the kind of powder you’re using, i use the MAC Studio Fix powder foundation. It gave me this flawless looking skin and i loved it. And as it says its best used around the eyes and nose. The round shape of the brush makes it so easy reaching such areas.

The second brush i used is the F80-Flat Top Kabuki. The brush is described as: “The F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush is perfect for applying and blending liquid, cream, and powder products onto the skin. The flat surface allows perfect buffing with flawless results. Features synthetic Sigmax HD fibers.”
Sigma F80-Flat Top Kabuki brush
This is one weird flat looking brush, the brush didnt convince me on how good it is until i used it. Its very soft on the skin and i can easily apply the foundation in no time. The blending is very smooth and nice. The size of the brush is perfect to be used on the face, not to small or too big. I first used this brush in applying Laura Mercier‘s Tinted Moisturizer.

The third brush is the F84-Angleed Top Kabuki. The brush is described as: “The F84 Angled Top Kabuki brush is the perfect brush for precise, yet blended application of products on the cheeks. It seamlessly applies cream, powder and liquid products. Features synthetic Sigmax HD fibers.”
Sigma F84-Angled Top Kabuki brush
This may be the best brush among them because of the angeled top, it makes it easier for the user to reach some difficult areas like around the nose and around the eyes and apply the foundation properly. I havent used this brush for cream blushes because i dont use them often, and i’d rather use the MAC 187 or 188 Duo Fiber or Sigma F50 Stippling brushes.
